Gail was a flight attendant from New York when a layover in Denver brought her to a party in Evergreen. It was 1973, and she decided to stay, renting a tiny cabin in the woods for $50 a month. She wove baskets to pay her rent, and only got married a few years ago (to a younger man). We worked together at the nursery last summer, and though she won’t pose for photos, today I caught the 72 year old taking in Pikes Peak on our seven mile hike.
Sq and I have done 20+ miles in the last five days. He’s PTFO under a blanket right now and I can barely move my legs, but when the season is on, IT’S ON. Grateful to have a time in life living among these giants ~ trees and rocks and running water.
